The Shaw Theatre

01 Mar 2009 – London online review

Vampires Rock Musical with special guest star Toyah Willcox at The Shaw Theatre, Euston Road, London NW1.

This was the last night of a huge 50 date UK tour for this production. On stage for 2 hours 30 mins over two sets it was really great fun. It has hints of The Rocky Horror Show along with a great live band and stage set, sexy female dancers, great costumes and the best rock soundtrack ever.

The singers feature 80s pop star Toyah who sings and looks better than ever. Set included songs by Guns And Roses, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Rainbow, Billy Idol, Bon Jovi, Queen, Meat Loaf, Ozzy Osbourne and many more. Lots of comedy and adlibs between the songs. Toyahl Willcox singing “Sweet Child Of Mine” was a highlight.

For the last 30 mins the crowd (some who dressed up) were on their feet dancing to gems like “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, “I Love Rock n Roll”, “We Will Rock You”, “Devel Gate Drive”, “Bat Out Of Hell” and encore of “God Gave Rock n Roll To You”.

Some of the bands I see should go and see this rocktacular to get some ideas on how to put on a proper visual show.A really enjoyable evening.
